A Trio of Sustainable Coastal Retreats
Nestled on a hillside in Playa Garza, Nosara, Costa Rica, Casas Hermanas is a multifamily residential project of three private homes, each thoughtfully designed with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a social area, terrace, deck, and pool. This unique configuration allows each home to blend seamlessly into its lush surroundings while offering privacy and breathtaking views of the ocean and canopy.
The design is inspired by strong sustainability principles, incorporating cross-ventilation and a strategic orientation to maximize garden and ocean views while minimizing energy usage. Extensive use of natural wood on the facades contributes to a refined yet organic look, enhancing the connection to nature and creating a warm ambiance. The homes, elevated from the terrain, adapt gracefully to the steep hillside, with native trees acting as natural dividers that create a sense of separation and privacy between the three residences.
Each bedroom opens onto a spacious terrace, promoting a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Positioned beside the infinity-edge pool, the terrace offers a stunning vantage point of the ocean and surrounding treetops, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and social gatherings.
Built on a challenging plot with limited flat ground, Casas Hermanas transforms the hillside constraints into a sophisticated, thoughtfully designed layout that feels simple and intentional. With protocols in place for water and energy conservation, the project prioritizes environmental impact while preserving the natural beauty of the property’s trees. Casas Hermanas stands as a harmonious blend of modern design and tropical serenity, offering an immersive experience in Costa Rica’s coastal landscape.
